Earthquakes, mountain building, volcanic eruptions, dinosaurs, climate change, and the origin and evolution of life: all in a day's work for the geologist. Salt Range/ Potwar region is a natural laboratory for geologists. You can study tectonic plate shifts, active faults on a major plate boundary (Indo-Eurasian boundary).

The conservation and use of natural resources, the evaluation of natural hazards, and the social and environmental effects of global change can also be studied as part of Earth Science.

Earth Science is about the fundamentals of our world. Students gather the techniques and the problem-solving abilities, the confidence and the leadership skills to embark upon careers in a diverse range of industries.

Focus Area

  • Applied Geology

Program Description

Master of Science in Earth Sciences is designed to prepare graduate students for continuation to the PhD level, other professional trainings, or for immediate employment in advanced positions in government, industry, education and abroad mainly in the Middle East. The program accomodates individual career objectives for those with degrees in Geology, Geophysics and allied fileds/relevant subjects to pursue advanced research work and placement in the field.

The Earth Sciences has seen enormous growth in past few decades with many new applications in Petroleum Geosciences, Engineering Geology, Econimics Geology, Environmental Geology, Earthquake Geology and Geohazard Assessment and Computational Research.

New information is being rapidly transferred from industry to academia for practical application.
