Investigating the structure-property relationship of new solid compounds is a discipline that has an immense capacity of advancement, which can be used to meet the challenges of the new scientific age. Metal chalco-oxochlorides is a prestigious branch of chemistry where one could find an abundance of new compounds with a variety of different structures and properties. Also there is great diversity of various ion formations in these compounds which leads to sometimes very unique combination.
Several metal chalco-oxochlorides have previously been prepared and studied as Cu5Se4Cl2O12 , Cu9Se4Cl6O14, Cu3Se2Cl2O6, Cu5Se2Cl2O8 , Co5Se4Cl2O12 , Zn2SeCl2O3 etc. However, there is still a lot of space to prepare many new such materials. Such ternary compounds have attracted great attention due to their structural varieties, interesting chemical bonding and physical properties. The basic requirements for the above materials are purity, high yield and thus selective synthetic routes, easy handling, storage and non-toxicity are desired properties for material applications.
